BSPA CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION - JUDGE ANNOUNCED FOR 29TH MARCH

Exciting news!! BSPA are thrilled to announce that Andrew Wright (Choreographer of many productions including the recent hit West End production of 'Singin' In The Rain and 'Barnum' at the Chichester Festival Theatre) will be the guest judge at the BSPA's Annual Choreography Competition ON Sunday 8th March 2015. Entrants will perform their own created dances to Andrew and he will then present the certificates and medals to the winners and runners up of the various categories including Junior Dance and Senior Dance solo, duet and group and Song and Movement solo and group. This is a great opportunity for students to get creative and show off their dance quality and musicality and perform in  front of such a high profile professional  judge. Students -don't miss out on this opportunity!!

The panto run at the Gordon Craig Theatre is almost over...Oh yes it is!!! Huge congratulations to my wonderful and talented students who have performed so fantastically in all their shows and who have been so professional!! I am so proud of you all and you have been great Ambassadors for BSPA! Enjoy your last shows Green Team and Orange Team!! 

MATILDA MASTERCLASS WORKSHOP MARCH 29TH 2015

Announcing a 'MATILDA MASTERCLASS' at BSPA taught by West End Cast member Verity Bentham-Isik on Sunday 29th March. There will be two 'Masterclasses' one for younger students  and one for senior students and details of times and the venue will be announced soon. This will be an invaluable experience and wonderful addition to the pupils' training and is an event not to be missed!!! Watch this space...more info to follow shortly!

END OF TERM WATCH WEEK AND MATILDA TRIP DEC 2014

The end of term finished with 'watch week' where students were invited to watch their children in all  BSPA classes.The students have made great progress this term across the board and the parents were very impressed with what they saw. The term ended on a high with a school  trip to see Matilda the Musical in the West End. The show was superb and it was a wonderful opportunity for puils to see the high standard they can aspire to if they wish to pursue a career in performing arts.

BSPA IN 'THE COMET' BSPA were in the Comet last week!! 

A write up of the students' success at being chosen to appear in 'Aladdin' at the Gordon Craig Theatre was featured on page 4 of the weekly newspaper. The 16 students who form two teams have already performed in several shows and look forward to many more throughout the run of the pantomime!!

MATILDA THEATRE TRIP ANNOUNCED!

BSPA are organising a trip to see the hit West End show 'Matilda' on Friday 12th  December. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity which could be a fantastic pre-Christmas treat for the kids!!

BSPA PRESENTATION EVENING DEC 2014

Students and families gathered at St. Ippolyt's Hall, Hitchin,  to celebrate at the 2nd BSPA AWARDS and PRESENTATION ceremony. ISTD Exam certificates and medals were given out along with trophies and awards across all genres of classes. Our very own student, Freddie Anscomb, 'DJ FRED' got everyone up on their feet dancing to his incredible disco set and the buffet and mobile bar was enjoyed by all. Thank you very much to those who came and supported  the event. Several students were unavailable but their achievements were applauded. 

TAPATHON EVENT 2014 NOVEMBER 2014

A fantastic afternoon was had by 50 Tap students at BSPA who participated in a TAPATHON event for Children In Need. Everyone involved in the event across the country tapped simultaneously  to the same track and to the same length of time in order to raise funds for such a great cause and to break the world record attempt of the 'largest number of tappers in multiple venues'!! the official head count is still to be announced but we are so proud of the contribution and commitment that the students made - a staggering £500 was raised by the School which will go to help those children who have disadvantaged lives! Well done everyone! 

MORE STUDENTS SUCCESSES

Well done to BSPA students Kerry and Aiden who successfully auditioned to appear in Rare Productions show 'Bugsy Malone.'They performed the musical last week at The Gordon Craig Theatre  and the show was a hit!!  Kerry played the role of 'Fizzy' and Aiden played many parts in the ensemble. 

PANTO STUDENTS COMMENCE REHEARSALS OCT 2014

Panto students began rehearsals on Sunday 26th October and had a great time working with choreographer for the show,  Flik Swan, learning a variety of routines. THEY WERE BUZZING AFTERWARDS!!

BSPA ANNOUNCES TAPATHON EVENT FOR CHILDREN IN NEED 2014

BSPA pupils from ages 5 through to Adult are practising hard  in classes in preparation for a TAPATHON! The event, which will take place on Sunday 16th November, is in aid of Children In Need and the organisers are hoping to set  a world record for the number of people tapping at the same time across the country.  Students have been learning the routine which will be danced twice back to back and are very excited about getting together to dance and support such a great cause.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXCITING NEW TEACHERS BSPA JOINING THE TEAM

Everyone at BSPA is pleased to be welcoming two new teachers to the school! Miss Hannah and Miss Kelly will be joining us this term and we are delighted that they are part of the BSPA  team. They are both extremely experienced teachers and we are looking forward to seeing their wonderful work with our pupils.


100% PASS RATE IN ISTD EXAMS 2014

BSPA have   achieved a 100% pass rate yet again in their recent ISTD exam sessions. Students from age 5 upwards entered exams in ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern in April and we are thrilled with their results. The standard is getting higher and higher in the school and more classes will be added in September to accomodate the various grades in the ISTD syllabi that students wish to study. A huge well done to all students and teachers for your achievements. 

WEDDING CONGRATS TO MISS KATIE AND FIANCE JONATHAN

Everyone at BSPA would like to wish Miss Katie and her fiancé Jonathan the very best for their wedding day this weekend. Principal Lynsey will be there on the day and is thrilled to be singing a song for the happy couple. Congratulations!

STUDENT NEWS 

BSPA students Emily Millet Deiseroth  and Zoe Woodhouse  said a fond farewell to the school as they both embark on their next chapter of studying and training in Dance and Performing arts. Both girls have been incredible assets to the school and have taken part in many exciting projects whilst training at BSPA including dancing at Sadler's Wells, participating in professional guest workshops with West End cast members and choreographers, including Matt Flint, and of course the school's major production in July 2014. Emily is now currently studying a degree in  Musical Theatre and Dance at Wolverhampton University and Zoe is enjoying a Foundation course in Performing Arts at Bodyworks, Cambridge where she will gain a Trinity College qualification in Musical Theatre. We wish them both love and luck for the future and we will miss them very much!!

BSPA PUPILS SUCCESSES OVER THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Well done to so many BSPA students who took part in productions across the Summer inside and outside of school, often getting leading roles. We have seen a huge amount of enrolments from people who have recognised the huge talent and high standard that BSPA is achieving. Well done to those pupils who performed in The 'Wizard Of Oz' at the 'Gordon Craig Theatre in June - Jessica O' L, Kerry H and Emma B successfully auditioned for the show earlier this year. Also, well done to Aiden B who got down to the last 20 children at a final audition for 'Matilda' in the 'West End' production. This is an amazing achievement as over 200 children were chosen to be auditioned!

SAD FAREWELL TO TEACHER MISS NATASHA

Miss Natasha will leave the school at the end of the Summer term and she will be much missed. She has been an incredible asset to the BSPA team and her choreography and teaching has been a hit with students since she arrived. We wish her well with her new ventures in Oxford. We are thrilled that she would like to return to the school for exam coahing and masterclass workshops.

BSPA SUCCESSFUL PANTO STUDENTS - JULY 2015

16 BSPA students have been chosen to perform in two teams for the Gordon Craig Theatre's professional pantomime 'Aladdin'. Rehearsals start at the end of October and the show runs from 28th November to 25th January.  Well done to Jessica, Emma, Estelle, Libby, Eve, Sophie, Darcie, Jess, Olivia, Rosie,  Keira, Freya,  Megan,  Millie, Elyse and Ruby. Why not go and support our students and enjoy a fabulous show!! We are so proud that the school has been selected to provide students, another accolade for BSPA!


BSPA PRODUCTION 'MOMENTS IN TIME' IS A HIT!!

We did it! Well done to everyone for three fantastic performances of our show, 'Moments In Time'. The show was a huge success and the fantastic comments from parents and other audience members keep coming...

START OF SUMMER TERM 2014

The Summer term has started off with a real buzz as the students enthusiastically begin their rehearsals for the BSPA show in July.  Last weekend also saw many students entering exams in ISTD Ballet, Modern and Tap and Principal Miss Lynsey, teachers Miss Natasha and Miss Jenny were thrilled with the hard work and efforts of everyone involved. We look forward to receiving the results soon! Well done to all of you.

 JANET CRAM NEWS - MAY/JUNE 2014

Well done to BSPA student Libby, who entered the 'Janet Cram' competition in the 'Junior Section' earlier in the Summer. She danced beautifully both in the class and solo dance. The 'Janet Cram Awards', take place yearly and the competition is based on examination work in ISTD Modern - a solo dance is also performed by each entrant. Students compete in regional heats and if successful, compete in a final in London. This is our 1st year competing and we look forward to starting preparations for next year.

STUDENT WINS SCHOOL'S TALENT COMPETITION SUMMER 2014

Well done to student  Elyse who was awarded first prize at her school's talent show with a duet she choreographed with her friend Megan. Out of several entrants the judge chose the girls' dance, praising the high standard of their dancing and choreographic skills displayed. BSPA hold a yearly choreographic competition with a professional guest judge and it is a great way for the students to get creative with their own ideas for a dance in any genre they wish.
 
BSPA STUDENTS PERFORM AT DAY OF DANCE EVENT IN LETCHWORTH FESTIVAL JUNE 2014

 BSPA students put on a fantastic display of dance on Saturday 22nd at The DAY OF DANCE event as part of the Letchworth Festival. A huge crowd gathered to watch and their applause and cheers were a true appreciation of the high standard shown. Many of them took flyers about the school and have already enrolled for September. The school continues to grow AND GROW..!!

BSPA CHOSEN TO PROVIDE STUDENTS FOR PANTOMIME

Exciting news for BSPA!! The school is one of two schools chosen in the Royston, Letchworth and Stevenage area to provide two teams for the professional pantomime 'Aladdin' at The Gordon Craig Theatre. Many schools were interviewed and visited by Jordan Productions and it is a real accolade for the school that we were successful!

 

BSPA ANNOUNCES WHOLE SCHOOL MAJOR PRODUCTION 'MOMENTS IN TIME'

We are thrilled to announce BSPA'S first major production 'MOMENTS IN TIME' to take place on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July 2014. The show will involve the whole school and will display a variety of dance styles, song and drama demonstrating the huge talents of our students. Watch this space for more details!!

BSPA CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

This fantastic competition will take place on Sunday 2nd March at Wilbury Hall, Bedford Road, Letchworth. Students have the opportunity to get creative and choreograph their own dances either solo,duet or group and perform them in front of our guest professional judge, Sebastien Torkia who has appeared in several Westend shows including the Lion King, Guy & Dolls and Saturday Night Fever. He also has many professional credits in TV, Film and Radio. Awards and medals will be given out in a presentation on the day.


MATT FLINT MASTERCLASS

BBC'S SYTYCD 2011 winner and 'Strictly Come Dancing' Associate Choreographer MATT FLINT will be teaching a Masterclass for children aged 10 plus on Saturday 26th October from 12.15pm-3.15pm at St. Christopher School, Letchworth. Don't miss this opportunity to be taught by one of Britain's Best Dancers with a wealth of stage and tv credits behind him. See the flyer for details.


MARDI GRAS DANCE SADLER'S WELLS PERFORMANCE

The Britton School of Performing Arts gave a triumphant performance at Sadler's Wells Theatre on Saturday 5th October. 51 students performed in two routines entitled 'Decades of Dance' at the Mardi Gras dance show 'The Stars in their Eyes' and demonstrated a range of styles and dance techniques which really impressed the audience. Our students had a wonderful time and have benefited greatly from the experience. The feedback from watching parents and relatives was overwhelming. Some of the comments were;

BSPA PERFORM AT SADLER'S WELLS 

The Britton School of Performing Arts will be performing at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London on Saturday 5th October as part of the MARDI GRAS spectacular, 'The Stars' in our Eyes.  Rehearsals are well under way for this prestigious event and the students are getting very excited at the wonderful opportunity that awaits them!!


COMMERCIAL POP DANCE 

Step into the world of fresh, urban, commercial dance!! Taking inspiration from music videos, come and learn the dance moves of the biggest artists in the Music Industry. This fun and energetic class  is for students aged 10 plus and begins this Wednesday i.e. 11th September at 6pm-6.30pm. First class is free so why not come and try it out!! 
After the student's initial free trial, the class will be priced at £4 and payment will be required on a half-termly or termly basis as with all other classes.

MATT FLINT MASTERCLASS

Matt Flint, winner of BBC 1'S  'So You Think You Can Dance' and Strictly Come Dancing choreographer will be teaching a Masterclass Workshop on Saturday 26th October. This is not to be missed!! Matt is a phenomenal dancer, performer and teacher with a host of professional credits, both on stage and in television, and it will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to be taught by him.

BSPA is thrilled to announce its Awards and Certificates Presentation and Family Fun Day. Come and celebrate BSPA'S hugely successful first year and join in the fun. There will be lots to do and the students will be presented with certificates and trophies following their achievements since September 2012. All funds raised will go towards costumes for the upcoming exciting 'Mardi Gras' event in October and next year's major production so please show us your support.

LORDSHIP FARM SCHOOL FETE  - DANCE DEMONSTRATION

BSPA will perform at the Lordship Farm School Fete on Sunday 23rd June. The school will be offering demonstrations and performances in a variety of dance genres including Ballet, Modern, Street, Contemporary and West End Jazz. Pupils performing range from 5 years old to 18 years old.

A big well done to all BSPA pupils who entered exams in ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern on the 12th and 18th May. Some of the students who entered were as young as five years old. The students worked very hard  in their classes under the expertise of teachers,  Miss Natasha, Miss Jenny and Principal, Miss Lynsey.


EXAM RESULTS

BSPA is thrilled to announce a 100% Pass rate in Ballet, Tap and Modern exams! All pupils who entered received fantastic results and are already looking forward to their next exam sessions!! Many congratulations to all involved.
